About the Event

Join us for a day of doing politics differently.

Session 1 -

Doors open 9.30 - 12:00

we are opening the community conversation 9.30 - 12:00

We are talking with and listening to our community.  So simple,  and yet it's rarely enacted by our political

representatives. Politicians, especially party politicians,  talk at you, tell you their policies and assume or hope you will vote for them. That's top down politics.

We're different. We're bottom up politics.

We want our community to inform our representative. We expect our representative to listen. We expect to be included and prioritised in decision processes. Us. Not large donors. Not vested interests. Not media megaphones.  Us.

This is not a one direction information exchange. We also expect our representatives to inform us. Share with us their reasons for voting a certain way on legislation and bills. This will create a mutually respectful form of engagement. It's not radical , it's what representation should be.

We invite you to talk with us about what you like about living in Hughes, what your priorities are and what you would like from a federal representative.

Your views will be noted and we will use them to understand our electorate's  priorities.

Once you've had your views recorded, you can grab your free democracy sausage sandwich.

Whe our community conversations finsih we move into our Speaker session.

Session 2 -

12-2pm

we welcome our guest speakers Prof Kerryn Phelps AM (in person) and Cathy McGowan AO via zoom

(registrations required for session 2 -  book here to avoid dissapointment )

At our big converstion we are putting into practice what we would like to see from a federal representative.
